We founded Network on Future Democracy Finnish Office ry (NFD Finland) in Finland in 2025. Our goals are democracy education and democracy innovation.
Our organization hosts the Student Network on Future Democracy (SNFD). SNFD was formed in 2023, when our members took part in the Student Forum on Future Democracy in Eisenach, Germany. SNFD served as the basis for NFD Finland, which was established to create an official framework for SNFD’s activities and to expand our work.
What does the Student Network on Future Democracy do?
SNFD is an international student network focused on democracy education of youth.
SNFD activities are based on four cornerstones:
- Internationality
Young people living in democratic and authoritarian systems exchange experiences.
- Democracy education of youth
Publications and workshops intended for a youth audience.
- Youth participation
Young people run the activities themselves, rather than merely being a target group.
- Teaching young people work skills
We use our network as a space for teaching, learning, and training in international project work, including software skills and English-language skills.
